Did you know unsafe waxing conditions can lead to contracting STIs like herpes?

Who knew unsafe waxing conditions could be so harmful… and gross?!

Remember those days of visiting your favorite nail salon for a quick-fix Brazilian wax? Those visits may have left you with a bit more than an uneven bikini line 😓.

The reality is, if a wax (or any hair removal) procedure is done incorrectly and in an unclean environment, there is a REAL chance you can can contract herpes or molluscum contagiosum, a viral skin infection.

And yes, it is just as bad as it sounds.

So, we decided to take to the streets of New York City to let the public know that we’ve got their back. Our model stripped down to her nude undies to reveal this shocking truth and inform our fellow New Yorkers.

We want to empower you to practice safe wax no matter where you go. So, before you strip down for your next treatment, you should ask your technician the following questions:

  • Do you have a ‘no double-dipping' policy?
  • Do you perform bikini services while a customer is on their menstrual cycle?
  • Do you re-use waxing equipment?
  • Do you wear disposable gloves (and dispose of them after each treatment?)

By asking the right questions and avoiding salons that don't put your health first, you can protect yourself from those horrific bacterial infections.

Take it from us, we know waxing. We’re StripNYC— the pioneers of the ’no double-dipping’ rule. Since 2002, we’ve been devoted to the Holy Trinity of Waxing: Hygiene, Speed, and Quality. We take precautions to ensure you won’t experience ingrown hairs, scarring, excessive pain, and bacterial infections. Each of our customers gets their own wax kit (sealed in a condom-like package) with disposable materials to ensure a safe and hygienic waxing experience.

But, enough about us— we need YOU to help spread the word. Tell a friend to tell a friend that the next time they go for a waxing treatment, remember to #PracticeSafeWax. Let’s put an end to these horrifying waxing encounters!
